Eostre's Eggs

Background photo: Mercia Sadie
Eggs were once considered a symbol of fertility and dedicated to the Germanic and Anglo-Saxon Dawn and Spring Goddess "Eostre" (or Ostara), worshipped principally during "Eostremonath" i.e. April, and from which we derive the word "oestrogen" and "Easter". According to an ancient tale, Ostara sent her pet rabbit to collect colourful eggs to amuse children. Welcome spring back with those elegant and delicately scented eggs. Choose from one of two designs featuring a hand-painted symbol of the rebirth of Spring; either a lavender coloured and scented egg with a crocus flower, or a pale yellow jasmine-scented egg with a daffodil. Burns over 10 hours.

Please note that each design is painted free-hand and that no two eggs are therefore identical.

The large lavender egg candle is also lavender-scented but features dried flowers for decoration. This egg will burn for up to 55 hours.
