A century later, the Englishman Nicholas Culpeper linked herbalism with astrology. He established a correspondance between the zodiac sign and planet ruling over the afflicted body part, and treated it by prescribing a plant associated with the same astrological sign. However, by the end of the 16th century, science was transforming from a speculative to an experimental process. Herbalists began to focus on the classification of plants rather than their "signature", and physicians on the circulation of the blood rather than the movement of the planets.
